A Letter From Joe

family-home

Greetings to my fellow residents of the Great State of Arizona and Congressional District 4. Arizona is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I arrived here in Arizona back in August, 1986 to attend law school at Arizona State University, and several years after my graduation my wife and I were married here. My three daughters were born here in Arizona as well. My oldest daughter attends high school here in Phoenix. Over the past twenty years, I have witnessed and been a part of Arizona’s national rise in the manufacturing, construction, tourism and the professions. Since 1986, Arizona has met its challenges head on and it thrived. Today, however, our families are economically challenged because of the collapse of the housing and construction industries, the loss of jobs, the high cost of healthcare, the underfunding of our educational system, and the recently passed immigration legislation.

Joe Penalosa Receives Endorsement from Arizona Right to Life Political Action Committee

I am pleased to announce I just received the endorsement for AZRTL PAC. Below is an excerpt from the official release:

The Arizona Right to Life Political Action Committee (AZRTL PAC) hereby announces its endorsements, recommendations, and acknowledgments for the 2010 Primary Election for Arizona’s eight Congressional Districts. AZRTL PAC based the following determinations on the candidate’s answers to the AZRTL PAC questionnaire, their history of pro-life involvement, any history of voting on abortion related legislation, and their chances of defeating pro-abortion candidates in the general election.

AZRTL PAC further notes that in many districts, there are numerous candidates who hold pro-life positions. Those looking to understand AZRTL PAC’s endorsements or acknowledgments should read carefully the rationale behind the decisions.

Congressional District 4

AZRTL PAC endorses Jose Penalosa in the Republican Primary for Congressional District 4. While he has never held public office, he has been an attorney working in Central Phoenix for almost twenty years. He has the credentials and the passion to challenge Ed Pastor, the current pro-abortion Democrat Congressman. Pastor used to vote pro-life when a member of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. However, once he became a Congressman, he towed the pro-abortion party line, and since then has not voted for the most reasonable pro-life legislation.

According to a recent article from Somos Republicans, “We are glad to hear that Jose Penalosa won his frivolous lawsuit that was filed by Janet Contreras. Now that the lawsuit is over with….we can go full throttle in support of Jose who is the only Hispanic Republican who has a real chance against Ed Pastor in Congressional District 4.”

Transparency In Government: Penalosa Wins Frivolous Lawsuit Filed by Contreras

On June 15, 2010, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Donahoe sustained my defense of the election challenge filed by my opponent and her attorney, Mr. William E. Conner. The Court held that I am constitutionally qualified to run for Congress, that Petition Partners hired qualified circulators, and that I presented sufficient signatures to have my name placed on the ballot. The Court hearing clearly established that my opponent, Janet Contreras, and her attorney, Mr. William E. Conner, an elections lawyer, were not knowledgeable about the “Qualifications Clause” contained in the U.S. Constitution, U.S. Supreme Court, and U.S. Courts of Appeals decisions pertaining to the “Qualifications Clause” of the U.S. Constitution. I am one of the few Republican candidates who overcame their challengers. For your review, I am attaching a copy of the Court’s decision.

Paradise Women’s Republican Club

On Saturday, June 12, 2010 I attended the Paradise Women’s Republican Club forum for the Republican candidates for Governor of Arizona. I listened to to the presentations and comments of Governor Jan Brewer, Mr. Matt Jette, Mr. Buz Mills, and Treasurer Dean Martin with regard to their vision for the State of Arizona, and their respective positions on economic development, SB 1070, healthcare, and our state’s budget.

Today I’ll be serving as an arbitrator with respect to a civil case filed in the Maricopa County Superior Court. I’ve been serving as an arbitrator since 1997. The State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Superior Court require that every Arizona attorney, with over 5 years of experience, serve as an arbitrator at least once a year. I view this as my responsibility to the community as an Arizona lawyer.

McCain and Romney Luncheon

Yesterday I attended a luncheon hosted by Senator McCain and Governor Romney. I met Governor Romney and asked him a question about his potential run for President in 2012. Senator McCain fielded my questions pertaining to healthcare and immigration reform. It was a great experience to meet and discuss politics with a future presidential candidate, and Arizona’s senior senator.
